Hi Everyone,

My name is Michelle Oakes and I have been teaching first grade for 7 years. I student taught in first grade and absolutely love teaching 6 and 7 year olds. There is no other grade I'd rather teach.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and love to create new and exciting activities for my students. I started my teaching career after graduating from Miami University, Ohio with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education grades 1-8. I continued my education at Xavier University where I received a Masters degree in Reading.

I love to read. My favorite books to read at school are the Mrs. Wishy Washy books and Junie B. Jones books. I also love to read magazines like People and In Touch.

I love to go shopping especially for shoes and purses.

I went to high school at Mt. Notre Dame just up the street from Reading Hilltop Elementary.

I have a wonderful husband who is a police officer, a little boy, Andrew who turned 1 in February and a big, messy bulldog named Winston.

I was nominated for Disneys' Teacher of the Year and Who's Who Among American Teachers twice.

I love to spend time with my little boy, go to the pool and scrapbook.
