Teaching students to read is my favorite part of teaching first grade. I feel very strongly about using a balanced literacy approach. During a day, my kids will be read aloud to several times, particpate in a shared reading of a poem or story, read independently during Reader's workshop and participate in a guided reading group. Below I will share resources for teaching reading, using literacy centers, library organization and more. I will also share some of the most amazing sites I have discovered.
